Sitges Tourist Information

Sitges is an attractive seaside town on the Costa Dorada, about 25 miles (40km) to the south-west of Barcelona. The resort has a lot to offer including an attractive old town, several good beaches, art museums and famous festivals. Sitges first became fashionable in the late 19th century when writers and artists were attracted to what was then a picturesque little fishing village.

There are a couple of excellent art museums in the town. The Museu Cau Ferrat is housed within a couple of fisherman's cottages which were once home to artist Santiago Rusinol. Opened in 1932, the museum displays paintings and ceramics by the likes of Pablo Picasso, El Greco and Rusinol himself. The Museu Marciel houses a collection of statues, paintings, ceramics and furniture which was assembled by American collector Charles Deering. The collection is housed within a former hospital which dates back to the 14th century. Another of Sitges' museums is the Museu Romantic, which occupies the 18th century home of the wealthy Falc and Llopis families. Inside is a fine collection of period furniture and antique dolls.

In the centre of Sitges is the old quarter which dates from medieval times. The area is characterised by narrow cobblestone streets and old fishermens cottages with terracotta roofs. Sights include the Baroque-style church and remains of the medieval ramparts.

Sitges has 17 beaches in total, with many of them situated close to the town centre. One of the most popular beaches, especially with young people, is Playa de la Ribera close to the church of Sant Bartomeu. Quieter beaches can be found further to the west, some of which are frequented by naturists. The most popular family beaches in Sitges are Playa de la Fragata, San Sebastian and Playa de los Barcos, all of which have shallow water making them suitable for young children. San Sebastian is especially attractive as it is backed by palm trees, cafes and elegant 1920's apartments.

Sitges is renowned for its lively and colourful festivals, with many of them taking place throughout the period of Lent. The most famous fiesta is the Sitges Gay Carnival in late January and early February, the highlight being the grand parade. Sitges has long had a reputation as being open-minded and bohemian, so it's no surprise the resort is a popular gay destination. The town has several gay bars and discos, and the beach of Playa de las Balmins is popular with gay naturists.

Another important event in Sitges is the Catalan Film Festival which takes place in the autumn.

Sitges has an attractive seafront esplanade, best enjoyed during the evening when you can relax in one of the cafe-bars and watch the world go by. The town has many excellent Spanish restaurants offering sea food, paella and other traditional dishes.

The nearest airport to Sitges is at Barcelona. MonBus operate a bus service from the airport to Sitges, and there is also a train service although you have to change at Barcelona's Sants station.

Organising your corporate Christmas party

Organising your corporate Christmas party can be quite a task. You may well need a large venue, catering, and more in order to make this year's Christmas party one to remember. If your staff is quite busy, this may be just one task too many. Fortunately, you can avail yourself of the services available from professional Christmas party organizers.
There are a variety of choices when you are considering hiring Christmas party organizers. Depending upon your needs, a venue booking service may be ideal, especially since many venues can handle food, drinks and decorations. Some venue booking services are even free to the user, making them an ideal choice to save your staff time in planning the holiday Christmas party. You can simply provide these Christmas party organisers with your needs and they will create a list of possible venues and the amenities available at each for you and assist you with booking the venue for the date you desire.

You may wish to narrow down your needs before consulting with Christmas party organisers. Where would you prefer to hold your corporate Christmas party? Know how many people will be attending the Christmas party, as well as the type of venue you would prefer. Are you planning a formal event or a more casual family-friendly one? Do you need a sit down meal or a buffet style meal, or even just appetizers? Will you be serving drinks? Once you have answered these questions, you will be much better prepared to speak with Christmas party organisers.

Venue booking services that include Christmas party organisers are well versed in helping companies of all sizes plan their holiday parties. They can help you find Christmas party venues in London or elsewhere that meet both your budget and your needs. Not only can skilled Christmas party organisers help you choose a Christmas party venue, but they can also help make travel arrangements or arrange lodging if appropriate. Given that Christmas party venue booking services can even be free of charge to you, you can save your staff valuable time and energy by using Christmas party organisers.

While venue booking services are often free, some companies choose to hire professional Christmas party organisers to design their corporate Christmas party. Unlike venue booking services, this can be quite costly. Moreover, you may find that some Christmas party venues offer these sorts of services in-house for a much lower cost. High end specialist Christmas party organisers may seem like an especially good idea if you are considering a themed Christmas party; however, do consider speaking with Christmas party venues as to their capabilities. You may be surprised at the services that they are able to provide on their own for a reasonable fee. Your venue booking service may well be able to help you select Christmas party venues perfect for whatever sort of work Christmas party you might be considering, including themed Christmas party plans.

What are the best Christmas party venues? The right Christmas party venues for your work Christmas party may depend upon the size of the party, the plans for the party and more. Many companies choose Christmas party hotels for their work Christmas parties. If the guests reserve rooms at the hotel, there is no need to arrange transport home after the party if anyone has been drinking and many hotels are very well equipped with regard to space and catering. If you are planning quite a large corporate event as your work Christmas party, a venue booking service can even assist with travel arrangements for staff or clients travelling a substantial distance. Hotels are also ideal Christmas party venues in London for this sort of corporate event.

Can you plan your own work Christmas parties? Certainly, however, you will find that choosing the right Christmas party venues takes a substantial amount of time, time that could be spent on work tasks. Moreover, someone will also have to coordinate food and drinks, décor and more with the venue. If it is a major corporate event, travel arrangements may have to be made. You can save valuable time with a venue booking service or specialist in corporate travel to assist you in choosing the right Christmas party venues.

Whether your corporate Christmas party is to be a rather small, intimate dinner or a large corporate event, choosing the right Christmas party venues is critical. Often the venue you choose will impact the quality of not only the physical space, but also the food and drink at your work Christmas parties. Be sure your Christmas party is one to remember and not one to regret by using those smart habits that have gotten you where you are today and delegating the choice of Christmas party venues to an expert venue booking service skilled in handling all sorts of corporate events and corporate travel arrangements.

Great Vacation Deal in Runaway Bay Jamaica

If you are looking for an all inclusive hotel in Jamaica, then you could do a lot worse than investigate Breezes Runaway Bay Resort & Golf Club on the north coast at Runaway Bay.
You can get a great vacation deal to Breezes Runaway Bay Resort & Golf Club, which is a 22 acre beachfront resort with 234 rooms situated on the north coast of Jamaica on one of the best beaches around.

Looking for a great vacation deal this year, and looking for a family holiday in Jamaica. Looking for an all inclusive hotel in Jamaica, that is beachfront, suitable for teenagers, with activities for them, but relaxing and not too noisy and action packed for parents. Take a look at Breezes Runaway Bay Resort & Golf Club.

They only accept over fourteen year olds, so if your teenage children love golf, tennis, scuba diving, and a wonderful beach then you are looking at an ideal family vacation as I'm sure you will agree, especially when you add in video assisted golf, tennis school, windsurfing lessons. There is also a covered but open air games area with pool, table tennis, and slot machines to keep the teenagers out of mischief, and an air conditioned fitness centre for the athletic types.

It's important to note that if you stayed at Breezes Runaway Bay Resort & Golf Club a few years ago, and that was your last experience, that the resort was revamped in late 2006. They added a new block of rooms, and this is the place to be for a relaxing holiday. Prior to that the accommodation was close to all the action, and the infinity pool, and the fun and games. The new block has its own small pool, and it is possible to book an ocean view room with a plunge pool. One thing to note is the six shower heads, giving you a fantastic shower.

Food at all inclusive resorts tends to come in for mixed reviews, and the Breezes Runaway Bay Resort & Golf Club is no exception. In the main the food is good, and there are a number of restaurants, which really makes for a great vacation deal with the choices you have, and especially good for a family holiday because not everyone likes the same food.

There is a good buffet, but pretty well unchanging from night to night, except Monday is a beach party and no the buffet, and Friday is Gala Dinner Night, and although it is still a buffet, it isn't the same as the rest of the week.

The Reggae Café which opens from 11am -6pm is good, and their jerk chicken is amazing. The Starlight Grill is a restaurant where you pick out whatever you want and then they stir fry it for you. Pastafari serves good Italian food, and Munasan serves Japanese food.

The new Spa is a welcome addition, and generally the Breezes Runaway Bay Resort & Golf Club has been considerably upgraded in every respect. You will get a really good vacation deal here, whether or not it is for a family holiday or just the two of you. It is a particularly great place for teenagers, and this makes this all inclusive hotel in Jamaica a great place for your vacation this year.

The Weather of Glasgow, Scotland by Brian Link

The weather in Glasgow in most cases varies differently from the weather you'll experience while traveling through other parts of Scotland. Glasgow has the advantage of being positioned in the mild, southwestern part of Scotland which puts the city right in the path of the Gulf Stream as it passes over the warmer water of the Atlantic Ocean. The surrounding hills of the Clyde Valley also help shield Glasgow from the typically humid temperatures and conditions that normally are associated with Scotland throughout the course of the year. All of these factors combine to make the weather in Glasgow milder than other parts of the country.
Glasgow's daily forecast during the months from March to May are typically for cool and mild weather. This is the time of year when the plants and trees around the city begin to bloom so any visitors to the city interested in gardening might want to plan their trips during this period. The summer in Glasgow starts in May and runs into September. During these months the weather slides from wet and mild to warm and sunny depending on how warm the winds of the Gulf Stream are as they travel west across the city.

If you're looking to visit Glasgow when the weather is at its warmest than you might want to book your trip during the month of July. The coldest months are in December when the weather gets very wet as well. The record low for Glasgow was -4 Fahrenheit back in December of 1995. This isn't the best time of year to be visiting Glasgow or any place in Scotland for that matter.

When the weather is windy and rainy in Glasgow things can be a bit cold but thanks to the Gulf Stream it's never terrible for too long. This is also true during bouts of heavy snowfall as they typically melt away shortly after they hit the ground. Thanks to its weather, Glasgow is one of the mildest cities in all of Scotland and perfect for anyone looking for good conditions during a vacation.

And what better setting can a family that is on holiday ask for.
There are some exquisite qualities of this Tahoe Lake that makes it the ideal destination for tourist planning a vacation. Firstly there is no dirt of hotels and resorts that can be easily found spread equally all over the region so wherever you'd like to stay you will find a decent accommodation as per your needs. And the outdoor activities are plentiful therefore the matter of staying inside the confines of your room does not arise, this is a naturally beautiful place which can be explored outdoors only.

Like said earlier when you opt to come here at Lake Tahoe for your vacations you will never find this place wanting of accommodation options. You can willfully stay at any of the ski resorts, which are available all across the region. Hotels are also there and provide a high standard of accommodation. Camping is another option while on vacations. Outdoor Sports Activities

Outdoor sports activities are a way of life here at Lake Tahoe and you will see all the residents on the streets and places where such activities take place regularly. Outdoors activities during winters see a spurt with snowboarding, skiing and all other games. So if the sound of such activities has your family interested then make a reservation to reach ski Holiday destination of Lake Tahoe.

The area of Lake Tahoe is quite large and therefore there are many places where you can find such sports activities being played. One of them being Squaw Valley (a former Winter Olympics host), Diamond Peak & Alpine Meadows.

Activities are restricted to snowboarding & skiing. You can simply sit by the lake and indulge water sports like water skiing. If you are an adventure loving family then trekking and hiking can also be done here there are enough areas to enjoy this sport.

Things to Do

Admittedly outdoor activities form a large chunk of the time spent at Lake Tahoe there is certainly more to offer at Tahoe. The shopping avenues are excellent and the restaurants and pubs are even better. There are some excellent resorts in the region that offer spa services. Casinos too can be found here and could prove to be a nice source of entertainment if you splurge within a limit. But if you were along with the family then you would need to make arrangements for babysitting while you stay outdoors.

Certainly Tahoe Family holidays are Fun and you would need to decide what time of the year would and your family likes to visit. Winter is certainly the central theme here but summers too can be the perfect getaway while on vacations.

Tarragona Tourist Information by Gary Marshall

Tarragona is the main city on the Costa Dorada and capital of the province which bears its name. This pleasant town boasts ancient ruins, fine beaches and some excellent museums. Tarragona's city centre can be divided into three main areas. The historic Old Town, Parte Alta, is situated within the city walls and is dominated by the cathedral. To the west is the busy New Town with the tree-lined Rambla Nova running through its centre, and lastly there is the marina and port area which is home to many bars, clubs and restaurants.

Tarragona was one of the most important towns in Spain during Roman times. The city has some significant Roman remains, most notably the amphitheatre near the seafront. This oval-shaped arena could accommodate around 14,000 spectators who would come to watch executions and gladiatorial contests. The church of Santa Maria del Miracle was built on the site during the sixth century. Close to the amphitheatre is the Romanitat Museum which incorporates the remains of the Roman Circus, as well as the Pretori (Governor's House), believed to be the birthplace of Pontius Pilate.

Linked to the Pretori is a modern building which houses the Archaeological Museum. This contains a collection of Roman artifacts including pottery, sculptures, tools and ceramics. The museum’s highlight is the well-preserved mosaic of the Medusa's head which has become a symbol of the city. Tarragona's cathedral was built in the 12th century on the site of a former Roman temple. It is notable for its impressive Gothic rose window and intricately carved altarpiece from the 15th century. The huge walls that surround the old town originally date back to pre-Roman times but have been significantly added to and improved over the centuries.

At the end of the Rambla Nova is the lookout point known as the Balco del Mediterrani, from which there are superb views out to sea. The Rambla Nova is the city's main shopping street with big-name Spanish chain stores situated here. There are also fountains, statues and monuments, including one dedicated to a local hero, Roger de Lluria, and another paying homage the Castellers (or human castles) for which the region is known. Beneath the Balco del Mediterrani is the main city beach, Platja del Miracle. There are two further beaches to the north-west, Arrabasada and Llarga, the latter being regarded as one of the best on this coast.

Tarragona has a variety of bars and restaurants depending on where you are in the city. Around the Placa del Font in the Old Town are tapas bars, pizzerias and smart restaurants, while the Rambla Nova has numerous cafes serving coffee and cakes. For seafood restaurants the best places are the port area or the Platja Llarga beach outside the city. If you are looking for nightlife, the bars and clubs around the marina are usually very popular, especially with a younger crowd.

Tarragona hosts several good markets throughout the week, including a bric-a-brac and antiques market on Sundays by the cathedral, and an indoor flea market every Tuesday and Thursday at Placa Corsini in the Old Town.

Flying can be extremely expensive, especially considering how the price of gas has gone up. Maybe you can't imagine the price of a plane ticket, and aren't even considering a vacation. But there are things you can do to find cheap airfare.
First of all, search online to find the cheapest plane tickets. There are many websites that search not only a variety of airlines, but that also search other websites to compare airfare and find you the best price.
If you have kids, make sure you check for special prices for children. Also, look for student discounts when you are searching for airfare. If applicable, check for senior citizen discounts.
When searching for airfare, search dates on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sunday mornings. These are the days of slowest air travel. Don't fly on Monday, though, it's the busiest air travel day and tends to be the most expensive.
Look for last minute airfare deals on the Internet, especially if you are looking to fly this summer. You can save up to 50% off. Airlines don't like empty seats. It's better to sell seats for less than to have them empty and not get any money.
If you decide to fly, sign up immediately with that company's frequent flyer program. Even if you fly multiple airlines in one trip, sign up for the program for each airline. Miles that you earn for most airlines never expire and are good throughout your entire lifetime.
These are just a few of the things you can do to find the cheapest airfare. For other ideas about saving money and tips for budget travel, visit my blog below. Don't miss out on a family vacation without at least checking into one.

Airline Travel by John Mehrmann

Rising fuel prices have impacted airline travel. Be prepared, and adjust your plans accordingly.
Continental Airlines plans to slash 3,000 jobs and reduce domestic flights in an effort to reduce operating costs. The cuts include pilots, flight attendants, mechanics, administrative personnel, and management.

"These actions will help Continental survive the crisis," wrote Chairman and Chief Executive Larry Kellner, and President Jeff Smisek, in a letter to Continental's 45,000 employees. In a move to demonstrate a personal response and commitment, the executives also announced that they would forgo incentive pay for the rest of 2008.

It has been estimated that charges for fuel will be $2.3 billion higher in 2008 than in the previous year. Beginning in September, Continental will decrease capacity by 11%, and will remove 67 airplanes from the fleet by the end of 2009.

United Airlines announced 14% reduction of capacity planned for fourth quarter of 2008. United Airlines is cutting 1,600 jobs.

United Airlines said that it will eliminate Ted, the discount arm of the airline launched in 2004. Ted catered to leisure travelers with only coach-class seating, but in the spring of 2009, the 56 Airbus A320's will be reconfigured with first class seats and returned to the United Airlines fleet. At the same time, United Airlines will retire 94 Boeing 747's as unprofitable planes and routes.

Delta announced 10% reduction of capacity in the fourth quarter of 2008.

American Airlines announced plans to reduce capacity by 12% in the fourth quarter of 2008.

As oil prices continue to rise, airlines are forced to respond with fewer flights, fewer routes, less staff, more passengers per plane, and higher prices. Reduced capacity translates to fewer flights, and this means that many of the smaller airports may be the first to feel the pinch. While some travelers may have enjoyed the convenience of smaller airports for proximity or to avoid the crowds of large airports, the availability of flight options may be greatly reduced. Airlines simply cannot afford to move aircraft with empty seats, so expect full flights, or expect that route to be on the chopping block.

In an effort to increase the number of passengers per plane, flights that do not have enough passengers may be cancelled to combine passengers with other flights to the same destination. While many frequent flyers have experienced this interruption in travel plans in the past, it is likely to become commonplace while the airlines adjust to the new demands. When incomplete flights are combined, the result is typically an overbooking situation, which means more passengers than seats. As a result, some passengers may be temporarily stranded in a city overnight, pending an available flight the following day. Overbooking will become even more common as airlines endeavor to keep prices down by filling every seat on the plane.

What does all this mean to you?

Expect full flights. You will be able to tell your grandchildren about the days when you secretly counted the remaining number of individuals boarding the plane in hopes that you would have an empty seat between the window and aisle. Your grandchildren will think that you are making up stories when you tell them about the complimentary meals and movies that you enjoyed on the plane ride. One day the free meals and movies may sound as ridiculous as allowing smoking on a plane, imagine that.

Expect longer delays at security and check-in counters. Yes it is true, security is becoming more efficient, and automated check-in counters are intended to facilitate faster service. Nonetheless, as routes are consolidated and oversold crowds are consolidated into flight patterns that maximize the productivity of reduced staff to handle them, human traffic jams will occur. It is inevitable that consolidation will occur in the battle to control price increases, and in many ways the check-in lines will more often resemble the crowded lines at theme parks, mouse ears and all.

When possible, book direct flights. While this may be slightly more expensive than those connecting flights that enabled you to eat lunch in Houston and dessert in Orlando, it will also decrease your risk of spending an unexpected evening in Texas. When making your travel plans, consider the risk of an unexpected hotel and transportation in a connecting city, while your luggage goes on without you. Try to schedule your travel on morning flights, as opposed to the typical evening business flights, to allow greater opportunity for another flight without an overnight delay. If you do need to book a connecting flight, make sure that you have at least one hour between flights at the connecting airport. Remember that next flight boards thirty minutes before the scheduled flight time, which means that your seat could be on the roulette wheel if there is any delay on your original flight. Take responsibility to check your travel carefully when booking flights, and reduce your risks.

Allow some flexibility in your schedule, just in case you are delayed. Whether your travel is personal or professional, you will get where you need to go, eventually. If all goes well, you will arrive on time, and without incident. In the event that you are delayed, or your plans need to be adjusted, remember to always be courteous to the individual on the other side of the counter. Odds are that the staff member has lost many good friends and colleagues in the workforce reduction, and is now striving to do multiple jobs at once. Have compassion, for they are attempting to resolve the personal challenges for every passenger, every inconvenience, and every emergency that comes over the counter. Show your compassion, and you are more likely to receive a little in return.

As airline travel is impacted, it will have a domino effect on the rest of the travel industry. As prices increase, leisure travel diminishes, and routes are eliminated, so too must car rental companies adjust the inventory of available vehicles at appropriate airports. Consider booking your car well in advance, especially when traveling to a popular destination or busy airport. It will become more likely for car rental agencies to sell out.

The hospitality industry will also be impacted by decreased activity. Although this will be a delayed result, based on the adjusted number of travelers, the good news is that hotels may offer competitive discounts and incentives to retain loyal customers. You should sign-up for programs and be vigilant for special deals.

Those special airline rates for leisure travelers, and the last minute special deals for under $100, are likely to disappear. Prices for all seats are expected to increase, and fewer route options with fuller flights will mean that special discounts will be placed on the endangered species list. And for those hardy business travelers who have saved those frequent flyer miles in hopes of tropical vacation paradise, expect black-out periods and greater advance planning to use those miles in the crowded skies. If fuel prices continue to rise, consider your options to use those accumulated miles this year. Rising costs will force some airlines to introduce even more restrictions on the use of accumulated miles, since these free seats become a liability to cash-flow. Airlines have adjusted the policies on mileage in the past, and are likely to do it again in 2009. Your mileage may not be protected if your carrier of choice is forced to merge, be acquired, or enforce restrictions as a part of an economic reorganization plan. Take a break of the bad news of rising gas prices and fuel charges, and use your miles to go on a well earned vacation while you can still get the most for your miles.

It's not all bad news. If hotels offer special rates, you might find some nice local vacation packages before the end of 2008, and early 2009. Rising fuel prices, reduced routes, and prohibitive restrictions on air travel may encourage more businesses to use teleconferencing, VOIP, and other technology to collaborate over long distances. A little less travel may mean a little more time at home, and that is always a good thing.

How to Find Your Way Anywhere When There's No One to Ask for Directions

Being lost is one thing that really gets nerve-racking, especially if there is no one near to ask directions. But just as all problems have a solution, there are things you can do to make your ordeal easier and find your right way.

Technology

With mobile phones, Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) devices and portable Internet devices you can always determine where you are and find the way you are supposed to go. The mobile phone is the easiest way, just call your friends or someone who has access to a map or the Internet and ask them for directions. GPS on the other hand is free across the country and can easily locate road maps and famous landmarks and destinations. If you have devices that could access the Internet thru Wi-Fi then it's time to log on and search for directions with online map resources.

The Old Way

If in case you are not a "technophile" and prefer the old way of doing things, there are still ways to get out of your situation. Like for instance a compass would be handy. Just look at where you are and start heading the direction you are supposed to go. If a compass is not available, just remember the sun rises in the east and sets in the west.

Road signs are also important; every highway or town has signs with arrows or directions on them. Just follow one sign until you find someone you can ask for directions.

Buying a map also does the trick before going to an unfamiliar place and familiarize yourself with the main highways and avenues. Also look for famous landmarks, stores, and malls and search for them when you get lost. The Internet is also a good way to do your research.

Foreign Land

If you are lost in a place where people doesn’t speak English, then make sure have an English-Native Language translation dictionary or book. Learn the words that are associated with directions like right, left, straight ahead, I’m lost, etc. If the book is not available make sure you research and learn the place you are going before you go.

The best way really to find your way in any place is to ask people for directions; if there is no one around and you are really lost, then you will have to try to find anyone you can to ask so that you can reach your destination more easily.

5 Tips For Air Travel With Pets by Sivakorn Siricharoensataporn

Pets have always been a source of entertainment for people and gradually the emotional attachment make them a part of the family. Traveling to distant places without them therefore makes family members worried about their well-being and safety, so many people nowadays prefer to take pets along rather than leaving them to stay alone at home. Traveling with pets can be troublesome especially when it involves flying to another land. As many people often get nervous in flight, similar is the case with some pets that become conscious while flying. Tips on traveling in flight with pets have therefore become a common query for people, especially with innumerable more security regulations that have been imposed on airlines nowadays.
Some of the tips that can be helpful for air travel with pets are:

1. Vaccination copies - Do not forget to carry some extra copies that verify the vaccination of your pets. It would be a good idea to keep one with yourself and put the other one in the carrier of your pet.

2. Comfort of pet in their carry bag or crate - Make sure that your pet is able to make necessary movements like turning around and getting up easily.

3. Place a SnuggleKittie in its crate - SnuggleKittie is the small stuffed animal for the pet that has a heater and a heartbeat inside. It helps the pet to combat the loneliness, separation and crying anxiety.

4. Check the collar of your pet - Make sure you check the information that states your temporary accommodation and phone number is easily readable and tied to the collar of your pet, so that in case the pet goes missing, people who find them are able to trace you easily.

5. Food and water - Do not forget to give your pet some water just before the flight and also minimize its consummation of food from around 6 hours prior the flight.

While going through the security check make sure that you have a good hold over your pet as the pet will be out of its carrier and may try to run away. Also, see to it that the carrier of your pet undergoes the X-ray prior to you, so that you can immediately put the pet in its carrier again. Last but not the least, do not forget to consult the veterinarian for any concern or queries that you may have regarding the health or vaccination of your pet for travel purposes. Injecting tranquilizers is not a good move, and this is why it is better to keep the pets distracted with SnuggleKittie, which is a better, safer and natural alternative.

Keeping these tips in mind will make sure that you do not get stuck anywhere in your journey and have a smooth and hassle-free air travel with your pet. Take your pet along and make most of your holiday without any worries, but simply utmost fun and make your trip a pleasurable one. So, are you ready to fly along with your pets without any hassle?

Have Delta Kite - Will Travel by Tim Parish

Why not take a delta kite or diamond kite with you on your travels? Modern flat kites pack down into a small thin carry bag. There are several good reasons to take a kite of some sort with you on your next international trip.
Firstly, no matter where and when you travel overseas, you probably aren't far from a kite fly-in or festival of some sort. These events almost always allow public participation. Depending on who you are, you might enjoy the opportunities to take great photographs, meet people, or just revel in the kite flying! You might even learn a bit about the traditional kites of the host country. Have something different to document in photos or video!

Secondly, most single and dual-line kites these days are lightweight and very easy to transport in their carry bags. Not only that, but some designs such as parafoils and simple sleds require no set-up at all. These flexible kites pack down into a small bag and only need to have a line attached to be ready to fly. Even other types such as deltas, diamonds and stunt kites are generally very straight-forward to setup before flying. For example, a delta kite is easiest, only requiring the ends of a single spreader rod to be plugged in.

Thirdly, the simple pleasures of kite flying are available just about anywhere, anytime. Any beach is a good spot to pull out a kite and fly. Sea breezes are less variable than inland. Parks and reserves also have wide open spaces, although you might need to fly high above the surrounding obstacles to find smoother air. Be aware that some countries are stricter than others when it comes to airspace regulations. If you keep a good distance from airports and keep the kite under 100 meters (350 feet), you'll stay out of trouble just about anywhere. Australia is one of the strictest countries in this regard.

On the subject of kite festivals, there are a number of large international events that can provide an awesome visual feast. See close-up everything from kids flying simple sleds to enormous show kites that cost as much as a second hand car! You might also catch performances by highly skilled stunt kite fliers and teams.

Major Kite Festivals Around The World

Consider passing through one of the following cities to catch an amazing event, and perhaps pull out that delta kite while you are there...

Jan: Ahmedabad, India
Feb: Basant, Pakistan
Mar: Adelaide, Australia
Apr: Weifang, China
May: Hamamatsu, Japan
Jun: Fano, Denmark
Jul: Padang Galak, Bali
Aug: Bristol, U.K.
Sep: Dieppe, France
Oct: Coolum, Australia
Nov: Santiago, Guatemala
Dec: Sorry! Unable to find a major festival in December
Of course, you would need to confirm the exact dates of the event and the location of the city before departing. That's easily done online. Also, searching online for more information on say, Hamamatsu Kite Festival or Santiago Kite Festival will reveal breathtaking worlds of kiting you never knew existed! Spectacular large kites from many cultures and intriguing histories abound.

All the above events are large in terms of the number of kites flown and the number of participants and spectators. In many cases, international kite designers and fliers are present at the invitation of the organizers. This is often the case even when the word 'International' is missing from the title of the event.

The U.S. scene really warrants a separate article. It would be possible to travel around the U.S. all year and fly your delta kite at a different event nearly every week!

Conclusion

I hope the list of 11 major festivals with month, city and country are useful to you as an international traveler. There are incredible kiting cultures everywhere across the globe. Sizes, shapes, designs and colors you can't imagine until you see them. Even if you are not a keen flier, think of the entertainment value and memories gained for no extra cost! Bring all this home in your head and in the memory cards of your photographic devices.

Let kite flying add an extra dimension to your next overseas trip. Go on, fly a delta kite in foreign skies!

When it comes to which is the best time of year to visit this tropical paradise because the weather is reasonable throughout the year you could visit at about just anytime you want. Beach Holidays For Fun In The Sun

Everyone loves beach holidays! The little ones can dig in the sand and splash in the lapping waves. The older ones can swim, get a tan, or just relax. The inquisitive types can explore for sea life, tide pools, and drift wood. The warm breezes and natural beauty are invigorating and restorative. Any trip, however, can cause discomfort if you do not plan well. Here are things you can do to make your beach holidays easier, safer, and more meaningful.

In many parts of the world, people head for their beach holidays in the family car. When planning a trip, it's always a good idea to give the car a good cleaning out first. This will give you more room for your luggage. Stock you glovebox, too, with a few first aid and comfort items, such as sunblock, acetominiphen for headaches, a roll of antacids, a few cough drops, and a few bandaids. Don't forget a couple of scrunchies or pony-tailers for long hair. Get the tires checked and replace any that are likely to go flat. Get an oil change if it's getting close. Road trips are not much fun when they include breakdowns. And whatever you do, make sure you have a map and a place to keep it handy.

Travelling with kids is always a challenge. They may be particularly excited and impatient when they know they are going on beach holidays. Make sure they have cool water bottles and healthy snacks to munch. Try a simple car game to make the time pass. Many kids like looking for letters of the alphabet on signs. If several people get involved it can be quite fun.

With beach holidays particularly, there is always a need to provide for skin safety. Be particularly careful about being in the sun for long stretches of time between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Use a sunblock with a high SPF rating and replace it after getting wet or drying off with your towel. The towel you choose can make a difference too. Thick towels get heavy and tend to trap a lot of sand. You may find you like thin towels at the beach. Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes and some sort of foot protection to keep your feet from being burned on the hot sand.

With a little preparation your beach holidays can be enjoyable and problem-free. When you arrive home you will be relaxed, refreshed, and ready for work. Take a minute to unpack and get your laundry going. It won't belong until the kids will be shouting, "When can we go on beach holidays again?"

Luggage Fee Was Only the Start of Airline Increases by sunny

Turns out that new airline checked-bag fee wasn't the end of it.
Airlines ratcheted up the pressure on fliers ahead of the holiday weekend, significantly raising ticket prices to offset the runaway cost of fuel. The three biggest carriers each boosted most domestic fares by up to $60 roundtrip, while budget airline AirTran Airways raised its leisure fares by $30 roundtrip.

UAL Corp.'s United Airlines led the bigger round of increases late Thursday, lifting roundtrip ticket prices by $10 to $60, depending on how far passengers fly and the competition on the route. Travelers will pay the biggest increase on routes of 750 miles or more -- less than the distance from New York to Chicago -- that low-cost carriers such as Southwest Airlines Co. do not serve.

"It's part of all the work that we're doing to try to offset fuel costs," spokeswoman Robin Urbanski said.

AMR Corp.'s American Airlines, the biggest U.S. carrier, said it matched the increase Friday.

Delta Air Lines Inc. also matched the increase, according to airfare research site FareCompare.com. The Atlanta-based carrier did not respond to multiple calls seeking comment.

Separately, AirTran raised leisure ticket prices by $30 and business-class fares by $50 roundtrip. Such a large change is unusual for a budget carrier.

The increases came just days after American said it would begin charging customers $15 to check a single piece of luggage. Representatives from a number of other carriers, many of which are already charging $25 for a second checked bag, have not ruled out following suit.

"Everything is under consideration with fuel the way that it is," AirTran Holdings Inc. spokeswoman Cynthia Tinsley-Douglas said.

Airlines have come under intense pressure to boost revenue and cut costs as the cost of fuel has soared. As of Monday, spot prices for jet fuel in New York were up 43 percent from the start of the year, according to the Energy Information Administration.

Chicago-based United has been among the most aggressive carriers in pushing fares and fuel surcharges higher, and its increases are often rapidly matched by competitors. Airlines are prohibited from agreeing to simultaneously raise fares, but nothing prevents them from following a rival's lead.

"Airlines have no choice but to pass on the cost of fuel to consumers and when passengers do begin to push back in significant numbers the airlines have no choice but slash capacity," said Rick Seaney, chief executive of FareCompare.com, in an e-mail.

In another sign of the pressure facing air carriers, Northwest Airlines Corp.'s cargo division said Friday it was raising its fuel surcharges on domestic and some international routes.

On Wall Street, airline stocks took a beating as oil prices resumed their climb, with benchmark light, sweet crude rising 34 cents to $131.15 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Shares of UAL, Delta and Northwest each hit their lowest points since the carriers emerged from bankruptcy protection, while AirTran shares were trading at their lowest point in more than five years. AMR shares hit a multiyear low Wednesday.

Travel Tanzania - Yellow Fever Vaccination For Visitors To Tanzania Is Mandatory! To Whom? by Solomon Okila

Recently, the Government of the Republic of Tanzania, through the Ministry of Social Welfare, issued a notification that the Health Surveillance Desks, which were abolished way back in the year 2001, will be reinstated in all entry points - border posts, ports and international airports. Tanzania happens to be among the countries that are at risk of being affected by the yellow fever. The health officials have therefore been instructed to deal with the control and prevention of yellow fever with regard to international travelers coming from yellow fever endemic areas. This directive is actually as a result of an advise from the World Health Organization on the same issue.
To all Tour Operators, Travel Agents and the general public, the general message is that all visitors arriving from SOME infected countries will require proof of yellow fever vaccination before entering Tanzania.

Which areas are the Yellow Fever Endemic zones in Africa?

The areas considered as Yellow fever endemic zones in Africa include:-

Senegal, Gambia, Guinea Bissau, Sierra Leone, Cote D'Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Nigeria, Mali, Niger, Chad, Central African Republic, Togo, Benin, Sao Tome and Principe, Cameroon, Gabon, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, United Republic of Tanzania, Angola, Zambia, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia, Somali, Sudan and Equatorial Guinea.

Which areas are the Yellow Fever Endemic Zones in America?

The areas considered as Yellow fever endemic zones in the Americas include:-

Panama, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana and Bolivia.

Any exemptions to this requirements?

Yes! Some exemptions, here:

Visitors arriving from other areas, but transiting in yellow fever endemic countries by connecting flights to Tanzania within the arrival airport BUT WITHOUT checking out of that 'transiting' airport will NOT be required to produce a yellow fever vaccination certificate when they get to Tanzania.

Any yellow fever issues with Travelers from Europe and North America?

Not really, but for personal health protection, it would be wise to heed this advise. "All clients including those arriving directly into Tanzania from non-yellow fever areas, for example Europe or the USA, may need to vaccinate against yellow fever, although it is not mandatory"

What does this mean to Tour Operators specifically?

From the Tour Operators' and Travel Agents' point of view, the directive raised a number of concerns. Some of the issues raised by Tanzania Association of Tour Operators (TATO) upon getting this notification were:

1. Positioning of separate health desks are not necessary as these will contribute to unnecessary delays at the entry points.

2. Adequate preparation time and proper logistics was required.

3. Sufficient publicity is required regarding the reintroduction of Yellow Fever requirement and position (status) of travelers who have transited yellow fever- endemic zones.

Subsequently, TATO has engaged the relevant government departments on the matter. According to a circular sent from the TATO Secretariat to all TATO members, the discussion held between TATO Executive Secretary and Tanzania's senior medical personnel responsible for control of transmission of disease within population (epidemiologist)........ they were informed that the Government is working on their concerns and will give a statement later.

However, in the interim some clarifications have been made:

Travelers to Tanzania who will NOT NEED proof of Yellow Fever vaccination:

For all travelers coming directly from Europe to Kilimanjaro and Dar es Salaam (Julius Nyerere International) Airports on direct flights, such that they did not cross or transit through an endemic country they will not need Yellow Fever Vaccination. You may however recommend yellow fever vaccination to your clients for self protection against the risk of exposure to the disease, although it is not mandatory - suggested by WHO.

Travelers to Tanzania who will NEED proof of Yellow Fever vaccination:

For all travelers coming from Europe via or transiting through an endemic country, for example. via Nairobi or Addis Ababa. They will need a Yellow Fever Vaccination card. This also applies to passengers in transit in airports where there is a risk of yellow fever transmission, for example, clients arriving on an international flight in Nairobi or Addis Ababa and connecting a regional flight within the airport to Kilimanjaro or Dar es Salaam.

YELLOW FEVER VACCINATION ON ARRIVAL AT KILIMANJARO AIRPORT AND DAR ES SALAAM AIRPORT

Yellow fever vaccination is provided at Kilimanjaro and Dar es Salaam airports at a cost of USD 50 per passenger. This service is for passengers who are required to hold a yellow fever vaccination certificate but have none on arrival in Tanzania.

ENTRY PROCEDURE

On arrival, international & regional passengers must first go to the health desk then to the Immigration desk; no passport will be accepted at immigration desk without a stamp from Health Desk.

Final word of caution: If you find yourself in a situation that does not fall under any of the ones described above, the most reliable source remains the Tanzania government through the high commission or embassy that you find closest to you. Or ask your travel consultant or destination specialist for Tanzania Safaris to contact them for you.

Discount Ixtapa Zihuatanejo Hotels by Roberto Gonzales

Some advice on getting discount hotel rates in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo.
As a hotel owner myself, I feel somewhat qualified to pass on a little advice on finding the best room rates for your next stay in Ixtapa or Zihuatanejo. You make also want to read my article on how to How to Choose a Hotel in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo.

If you arrived at this page looking for list of super cheap hotel rates, I am sorry to disappoint. There are a gazillion sites offering the "Cheap Rates on Ixtapa Zihuatanejo Hotels". Yeah, right. There can only be one "best". It's the one you are happy with.

Anyway, if you are still reading, here are a few random ideas:

Call the hotel direct.

If you know precisely which hotel you want to stay at, try and find a local phone number for them. Very soon I will be posting a list of all the hotels, casas, condos, bungalows, villas, hostels and rooms that I have telephone numbers for.

This tip is particularly true for the small bungalows or boutique hotels. Calling the hotel will probably put you in touch with the owner, and you can be sure that they are perfectly aware that they do not have to pay a commission to an on line booking agent, (or a local cab driver). Expect at least 10% flexibility - it doesn't cost them anything to give you a discount equal to the commission they would normally have to pay.

Negotiate.

Mexican commerce is built on negotiation. There is nothing inherently insulting or wrong about negotiating a better price. If fact, to the contrary, it is expected. I could probably count on the fingers of one hand the number of Mexican guests who have stayed in my bungalows in Zihuatanejo who have not negotiated a rate (or at least tried to!). On the other hand, the reverse holds true for American and Canadian guests.

I am never offended by this. It is a way of life. Obviously a guest wants the best rate they can get for their accommodation, as does the owner. As a guest, remember one thing: the owner will never rent a room for less than they are happy with receiving!

This of course is impossible with the large, chain hotels.

Make a reservation in the evening.

Almost every hotel in the world will cancel a reservation if you don't show up by 6pm, unless of course your room is guaranteed by a credit card. This of course will only work if you are already in Ixtapa or Zihuatanejo, or are going to arrive shortly.

With the smaller hotels, notably in Zihuatanejo, a cancellation may mean that the owners have held back some or all of the guest's deposit. You may find them more interested in giving you a discounted rate. Typically, a 50% deposit is required up front and they will only refund 80-90% of it if the room is re-rented.

Make a "high-season" reservation in the "low-season".

The months of May/June and September/October are the lowest seasons in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo. Everyone is broke, or nearly so, and are therefore more inclined to discount at these times. Running a hotel is expensive and never stops! Neither do the wages! Be prepared to leave a large deposit though - you will get a better discount in the future is they have cash-in-hand now.

Try second best.

The big hotels, like practically all the hotels in Ixtapa, always have a few rooms "out of order". Perhaps they are on the maintenance list to fix a faucet, replace a tile in the bathroom etc. If you tell the manager that are happy to take this sub-standard room, you may just get it, for a discount of course!

In the same vein is the idea of picking a cheaper hotel in the area. Let's say you want to be on Playa La Ropa (in Zihuatanejo), but your preferred hotel is asking $350 a night - well beyond your budget. 200 meters away is a perfectly good, but not as fancy, hotel that is asking $200 a night. Remember! Same beach, same sun, and you likely won't be spending that much time in the hotel anyway. Get out and explore! If you are staying in Ixtapa, jump a bus to Zihuatanejo, you'll enjoy it,

Book one night up front.

Warning: Do NOT try this during Christmas, New Year's, Easter or summer vacations. All the hotels, and even the worst rooms, are booked for these holidays in both Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo. You could find yourself sleeping on the street (on the beach, no, it's prohibited).

If you are not familiar with Ixtapa or Zihuatanejo, or think you can get a better rate while you are "on the ground", think about reserving only one night at any promising hotel. Once you are here, you can then:

Decide whether the location you picked is where you would like to stay. Maybe Ixtapa is not to your cup of tea after all and you would rather have a hotel in Zihuatanejo.

Ask around and investigate other options and negotiate a price you are happy with. The previous tips about cancellations applies.

Another Caution: DO NOT TAKE ADVICE from the friendly guy on the beach, the cab driver or the waitress that offers to show you her "amigos" hotel. They almost always are in it for the commission. On the other hand, if you do wind up having a conversation with someone who is not handing you a flyer, hustling you into a taxi or even worse, selling a time-shares, listen to them.

Consider other hotel types.

A lot of us feel more "secure" reserving a room in a big, well-known hotel. In Ixtapa, you will find all the big chain hotels. Zihuatanejo generally has smaller hotels. There are many 1 to 10 room properties around. There are also condos, houses, apartments, bungalows, guest houses and the like. Playa La Ropa and Playa La Madera, in Zihuatanejo, are full of options.
